Gilmore Girls!

Yes, it was inevitable I would make a Gilmore Girls post.

While we were away, we saw a few things that reminded us of Gilmore Girls. Here are the pictures:

House of Logan. How cool is that???

And we finally found out what happened to all the ubiquitous anvils that Lorelei was wondering about:

They were at the Mystic Seaport!

So anyway, now that I've got that out of my system, we will commence with normal posts again tomorrow. My next post should be pretty interesting, so don't forget to check back. And please keep leaving comments! We love 'em!

Told you I'd be back

I know I said I would try to get some pics on last night, but I lied.

Anyway, I have a ton of stuff for you now, so it was worth the wait. I'm uploading video footage as we speak so while it loads, I'll share some more photos. The first few are from the day we went to Mystic Seaport:

This is me and Robyn in one of those cut out thingys. This is the closest Robyn will ever be to being an actual mermaid.

Me and Robyn decided to try on pirate hats in the gift shop

Robyn is pretending to be Captain Jack Sparrow

This was taken in Mystic Pizza. Yum!

I also have 3 new videos to share with you, including the one where I put on 10 t-shirts.

Penguins!

Mystic Diorama

10 T-shirts

Well I think I will leave it there for today. Stay tuned over the next couple of days, we're gonna have more photos from Yale, plus 7 state capital buildings! Cool beans!

If there are any days from the holiday that you would like us to write more about, or add more photos from, then just leave a comment and let us know!

We're home! *Cue the incontrollable sobbing*

Hi, we're back now, and we're so jetlagged it's unbelievable. Wednesday and yesterday just seemed to morph into one loooooong day, cos we had a night flight. And it was late cos some baggage got lost.

Anyway, on Wednesday before we went to the airport, we got to go to the Canadian Bethel, that was amazing. The grounds were enormous, I think they said they had 180 acres of land. But the factory itself is a lot smaller than the London branch.

Our tour guide was a brother named Jeremy. He was French Canadian, but served in the Spanish congregation.

Thanks to everyone who's been following our adventures each day. Your comments made us chuckle all the time. There's so much more that we didn't get chance to write about. If you ask either of us, we will be pleased to answer any questions or ellaborate on any stories that you wondered about!!

It really surprised us how many people were regularly reading this blog without ever commenting. So that we can see how far the blog fever spread, we would like to ask please that everyone leave their name as a comment - unless you've already posted... cos then we'd already know you've been on... thanks a bunch guys.
xxx

I know this all sounds kind of final, but please trust me when I say this will not be the last post. We have tons more pictures and video clips to show you yet, so be patient, and bit by bit we will share them all with you. (Well, not all of them, we took millions) So remember to keep checking back. I'm already back into my regular routine, but I promise to do my best to add a little more every day, even if it's just a couple of pictures. Right now all the pics are still on my Dad's laptop, so I can't add any to this post, but I will try again later tonight to add some.

So thanks again to everyone who's read this thing. And remember, it won't take long just to add a little comment, just with your name if you want. We would love to find out who's been reading, otherwise we have no way of knowing. Thanks!

Sad sad weekend

Unfortunately we don't have much to report, just some bad news.

Saturday was great. This was supposed to be the best weekend ever. Yale on Saturday and Six Flags on Sunday. On Sunday we had torrential rain all day. It was horrible. Robyn and I were devestated. So instead we went shopping. I had left aside loads of money to blow at Six Flags, so instead I had to buy a bunch of stuff. Poor me ;)

Today we went to Mark Twain's house. That was really cool. There was a sort of museum, and then we had a tour of his house, which had been restored to exactly how he had it back in the late 1800s. And there was a cool gift shop aswell. Bought more stuff.

So tomorrow we basically just have a whole lot of driving. And then on Wednesday we visit Toronto Bethel and go home :( This isn't going to be the last post however. When I get chance I'll add some more videos, but until then, keep those comments coming.

PS - I wasn't sure if everyone had realised, but the other day, we did 3 seperate posts in one night. This was to make up for not posting in a few days. I just figured some people may not have noticed, and I didn't want you to miss out on the 3 posts. So anyone who has only read the post about Yale and not the post about Mystic Seaport and Aquarium might wanna scroll down and have a read. Hope that makes sense.

Yay! Yale!

Today has been the greatest day of my life. We went to Yale. Most people wouldn't find this very exciting. But anyone who knows me will know that I love Gilmore Girls, a lot of which is set in Yale.

So, Dad and Mum dumped us in New Haven and left us to wander round for the day. We started in the Yale vistors centre where we learned some really interesting things. Then we went to the places we wanted to see, the art galleries, the Yale Daily News, and the rare manuscript library. Then there was a guided tour by an undergrad. This was amazing, she took us inside Branford college which is the college Rory (Gilmore Girls) lives in. It looked similar in some parts to the show, but all of it was beautiful old buildings. And we saw statues of important people that attended Yale, or had stuff to do with the University.

Here are some photos:

This is Handsome Dan, the school mascot. He's dead now, so they stuffed him and stuck him in a glass box.

This is the foot of Theodore Woolsey. It's rubbed shiny cos people touch it for good luck.

I wasn't looking forward to today as much as Beth, so I was surprised when I enjoyed it so much. Dad will be proud to know that when left to wander the streets of the city on our own,we found ourselves in various museems and art galleries. I never knew learning could be so fun. We saw the Guttenburg Bible in one of the mueems. This was the first book to be printed using modern methods.

The college that we looked round was based on Oxford University. It was beautiful. The guy who designed it had O.C.D. and wanted it to look authentic and old, so went to great lengths to weather the structure, including pouring acid on it and burying and roof tiles. Crazy guy!
Wow, I think did learn something!

Some of the stories and legends surrounding the people we learnt about were amazing too. Whether it be the C.I.A flying into campus in helicopters to steal molds of the statues, or the first spy being caught out by eating steak wrongly!

The highlight of my day however, happened when we got back into the car. Beth was so overcome with emotion at having finally ventured into Yale, and was excitedly recounting various Yale anecdotes to Sally when the cup of boiling hot coffee that was balancing precariously between her legs suddenly found itself in her crotch!!
I couldn't do anything to help because I was too busy trying not to wet myself!! I'm laughing now just thinking about it!! She had to get changed in the car, while I was still laughing!

Anyway, I'm afraid we don't have that on video, so we'll talk to you soon!

Yeah I'd love to talk longer but I'm so tired and we have a long day ahead of us. Six Flags baby! See ya tomorrow.

Mystic Aquarium

Next came Friday. We went to Mystic Aquarium. That was amazing. We took about 6,000 pictures betwen us. They have Beluga whales and penguins. There was also a pool where you could stroke Sting Rays. They were more slimey than I thought they would be.

We tried to time it to catch the feeding times of all the animals.

Yeah, the Beluga whales were cool. They were white and looked more like dolphins. And there were seals and sea lions which were cute. The guy feeding them was cute also.

There was also a 3D ride that was fun, and there were other exibits, but the place wasn't that huge. After we'd finished, we went into Olde Mystic village, where there were some really random shops. And even more random people. Robyn pointed out a guy who she thought was cute and I had to point out to her that it was actually a woman.

Anywho here are some photos from yesterday:

Later on in the day, we were joking about how many t-shirts me and Robyn have bought this holiday, and my Dad said I would have to wear them all home on the plane. Everyone challenged me to put them all on, and I never back down from a challenge. To cut a long story short, I did it. I'll upload the video later. Just remember I am always right. Robyn and my parents learned that the hard way.

OK anyway I wanna get on to talking about today!

Sorry it's been such a long time!

Hi guys, we honestly meant to write sooner, but we've been so busy, plus the Internet at our last hotel was a bit pants. So let's backtrack first of all to Thursday. We've done a lot these past 3 days so we're gonna do 3 seperate entries.

So, on Thursday we went to Mystic Seaport. This was kind of interesting in a weird sort of way. It was like an outdoor museum wth old boats and whatnot. There were people telling us stuff about sailors and fishing and stuff. We saw a lady gut a fish, and a guy sing sea shantys. Here are a couple of pictures:

This was the lady who gutted the fish. I have a video of her ripping its head off, removing the spine, and cutting out the eye balls.

This is one of the ships you could go aboard.

After the seaport we went to Mystic Pizza, but I'll let Robyn tell you more about that.

Well I was gonna tell you about the fish, cos that was my favourite part of the day, but Beth already enlightened you on that. It was awesome. We learnt all about whaling too. They showed us how rope was made and there was a Planetarium that we went in. I'd never been in one before. It was cool. I am now able to navigate a ship at sea, using nothing but the stars and a compass, so should I ever find myself in a situation where I am on board a ship, all alone and the engine stops working - I'll be fine. Don't worry!

Mystic Pizza is the place where the Julia Roberts film is based. The pizza there is dang good.

We're in Massachusetts!

Just a quick post cos we're really tired, it's been a long day.

We've been driving down the East coast the past couple of days. This morning we went to Cape Ann, it's really beautiful. I took a few pictures so I'll add them at the bottom. Then this afternoon we went to Boston! That was great, we didn't spend very long there, but we went to the Cheers bar and did a bit more shopping. Go Red Sox! I didn't get to see Fenway Park or the Celtics stadium, but there's always next time. Me and Robyn definately want to come back to Boston, it's ace.

Um, in other news, a pigeon left a present on my Dad's hat today, that was funny. Oh and a quick message to Karen, you can let Andy know that Dunkin Donuts is most definately not going out of business, today we counted 18 on our travels. And that was just today. So rest easy now.

Here are a few more pics, with descriptions:

This is part of Cape Ann. Pretty, huh?

This is the Cheers bar in Boston. Like the way I've angled the shot to mirror the opening credits?

Also, we made another video today. Shaz, you will be happy to see we took your advice and employed some special effects to this one. The splash is much more realistic.

Me killing Robyn - the sequel

Well, this turned out to be a bit longer than I planned, sorry if I bored you. I really have to go to bed now. Tomorrow we're going to Cape Cod, home of Dawson's Creek! And then the day after we're going to Mystic, home of the movie Mystic Pizza. They actually do have great pizza at that place, I've been before so that should be a lot of fun.

So talk to you tomorrow. Keep those comments coming, we love hearing from you all cos we miss you!

OK Robyn wants to say a quick hello.

Hi there. Today was fun. We got the underground into Boston, which was a lot like the underground in London, so I felt very at home. (I love the underground.)
I'm feeling very cool sat here in my new Boston Red Sox shirt!

Today we also saw the statue of the fisherman guy that was recently on the back of one of the magazines. It was an article all about fishermen lost at sea. I think it was on the back page of an Awake.... We were just minding our own business taking photographs when this crazy guy pulled over in his car, and made me and Ian go talk to him. It turns out he used to be a tour guide in the area and his grandfather posed for the statue. He told us the history of the entire area and every British person ever to set foot on American soil, as well as stories of how all the sailors and fisherman died. It was interesting but we couldn't get away. He did let me take a picture of him, but i don't have it at the minute to upload. He was crazy.....

Also, I went in Macy's for the first time today. I was so disappointed. I had been led to believe it was a magical place where dreams came true. It is not...

We're in New Hampshire

Hi guys, not much to report. We had a pretty quiet weekend, chilling out and doing some shopping.

We've done loads of shopping. Think we bought the USA's entire supply of cds and designer clothing!! We went to Lake Winnipesaukee today. That is a really big lake with an even bigger name! We've had our fair share of dealings with plumbers too. Trust me, you don't want the details... apologies to Kevin - who deserved to be tipped!! There is actually a plumber in our room right now!

We went to the cinema again, to see Failure to Launch. That was quite good - but a bit predictable. On the plane we saw Yours, Mine and Ours... so we're quite up to date with all the latest film releases now.

All the places we've stayed have been really nice until last night. That was terrible! It had a smell of badness - especially in the corridors, and the place didn't really serve any breakfast. There was also no internet, so we couldn't keep in touch with you guys.

Loads of people recommended L.L. Bean to us, so we were really excited to go try out this fantastic shopping experience... much to our dismay it was a cross between a Regatta outlet and a tent shop. Im concerned as to why people would think we would be interested in this place. Do we look like outdoor girls or something? Anyway, going to L.L. Bean, we stumbled accross some fantastic designer shops, so now we look dead cool!! (Cos we didn't before???)

Beth bought a book today which is hillarious, but mildly offensive!! I'm sure she'll tell you about it.

So yeah, this book I bought is amazing. It's in the car at the mo, but I can remember a couple of the nuggets of wisdom:

When life gives you lemons - use them to squirt lemon juice into the eyes of your enemies

You can't have you cake and eat it - but you can have your cake and eat someone elses, and that's better anyway

I am now going to live by this book. When I have the book handy I'll share some more with you.

Gotta go now, we have to be up early tomorrow, we're going to Boston. Bye!

Man it's late

Hey guys, it's time to make up for the lack of pictures, here are a load with brief descriptions below each one:

This is Mount Washington. It is a mountain.

This is Robyn at the waterfall near the bridge where I fell over

This is me at the waterfall where I fell over

This is me winning one of the 10 (yes I miscounted before) stuffed animals that will soon double of gifts for you all.

This is me holding them all. Duh.

I also added some more video footage! Whoo! Here are the latest escapades from me and Robyn. I've stuck the old ones underneath for anyone who missed them the first time round:

Crazy Beach

Me killing Robyn - take one

Me killing Robyn - take two

Chase Scene

Born to be wild

Old ones

Plane taking off

MTV Cribs - Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls tour

Icy Lakes

The new ones are pretty insane, so please brace yourselves. This is what happens when you spend too much time in the wilderness.

Anyway this post has taken me a long time to put together, so please so appreciation by leaving comments, not just here but on youtube aswell. Me and Robyn will make another post tomorrow morning with more details on what we've actually done. So stay tuned until then.

We're in Maine!

Hi everyone, sorry we haven't written in a couple of days, we're still here! No pictures at the mo I'm afraid, we've having trouble with the laptops so we're using the hotel's computer. But we have loads to tell you. I'll tell you what I can remember and then Robyn will fill in the blanks.

First of all, we went to the memorial at the same congregation we went to on Tuesday, in Lyndonville. Everyone was so nice, and they want us to come back and visit. It was so cool hearing them all sing with their American accents, we've started to pick it up as well. Dead cool.

We've also done some shopping, I got some streetflyers, they're trainers with retractable wheels, they're amazing. And me and Robyn both got pom poms. We're going to be cheerleaders.

Oooh! And last night, there was a cinema right next door to the hotel, and tickets were only $2.50!!! That's like £1.50, so me and Robyn went to see She's the Man, and Eight Below. Both were very good.

Robyn's gonna talk now, in case you hadn't realised, all the bits in purple are her:

Hey guys!! I mean hello there...
I want to send a big shout out to Kim who was so sweet to us at the meeting. We'll definately be back!! Im hoping Dad is really proud of our bargain cinema tickets. Although Beth defeated the object of getting in cheap by spending a million dollars on junk food to eat in there!

We've tried Woopie Pie, Froot Loops, Sno Caps, Cookie Dough Bites, Pirates of the Caribbean food and Jello. American living is different cos they fry everything, or serve it with chocolate.
In fact, I've had so much chocolate... im starting to go off it!

Beth told me she was amazing at the Teddy Grab machines, and obviously I thought she was lying...but when I challenged her to prove it, she won 3 toys in one go. She managed to get 9 altogether and it only took her about 5 mins. Humble pie had a bitter taste.

Fergus... the car is a Dodge, but it says Chrysler on the keyring... so we don't know what it is really! Its blue....

Well it looks like Robyn has run out of interesting things to say, though she lasted a lot longer than I thought she would.

OK shout outs, a belated happy anniversary to David and Leanne, hope you had a good time with Karen and Andy. And hi to Karen and Andy. Thanks to Shaz for your... interesting photo request, it was a pig by the way, one of the many I won at the hotel arcade. The grab machine didn't have any racoons.

We saw another Kingdom Hall today, that makes 7 so far. We also met some more witnesses in Dunkin Donuts yesterday, they had been on the ministry, and they took us to see their hall which was just down the road from Dunkin (how cool is that?) So a big hello to Cecille and Terry!

OK, that's all we can think of for now, keep spreading the word about our blog, and keep those comments coming! Love you all (well, most of you)

xxx

Good morning!

Just a quick little post this morning. We have had lots of requests (well actually just Robyn's mum) for pictures of the car we are travelling in, due to its being magical and all. And we are not people who disappoint so:

Ta da! Pretty amazing huh? There's tons of legroom and the seats are like reclinable armchairs. I could live in this car.

If anybody has any other requests for pictures or anything, we can post them. Even if the pictures don't exist, we'll make them up.

On a side note, the congregation we visited last night is great. We'll try and post some pics of the hall when we have more time, but we have to go now.

There is a guy called Forest, and he runs.

Still in Vermont!

Hello again. We don't have any pictures to share with you all at the moment, we've not done very much today. We saw some more lakes and mountains, but after a while they get a bit samey.

We saw a Kingdom Hall today. Well actually we saw 2 but we had planned the second one cos we're going to their meeting tonight and their memorial tomorrow (aren't we good?). But so far this holiday we've seen 4 halls. One in Niagara, one in the Adirondacks and 2 here in Vermont.

We also ventured into New Hapshire today, we saw a covered bridge. It looked boring, but on the other side was this cool river with a little rocky beach. Me and Robyn climbed on the rocks all the way to the top of a huge waterfall. Well it wasn't that big. I fell over as well :( It was a lot worse than when Robyn fell off the treadmill cos she landed on carpet but I could've landed on the bottom of a rocky lake and died.

What she's not telling you, is that my carpet burns are still visible on my arms and I was dragged behind the conveyor belt. Were you Beth? Huh?

No I wasn't. But my little finger is swollen. So there.

In final news, we had an amazing pool and hot-tub in our hotel last night. Robyn showed me how to swim like a mermaid.

Greetings from Vermont

Yes, we are finally in New England. I can't make a long post tonight cos Dad wants the computer back to watch a DVD.

We went to Ben and Jerry's today, that was the highlight, so here are some pictures:

Also, I realise I mixed up one of the videos on youtube. If you are clever enough to notice well done. I don't have time to sort it out now, maybe tomorrow.

Um, that's all I have time for. Thanks for all your comments, especially Julie and Shaz, our devoted fans. Speak to you tomorrow.

Still in NY state (we're going to New England I swear)

Hi there, I told you I would be back. Today has been great, we drove thru the Adirondaks and saw some amazing lakes. Some of them were even frozen over which we weren't expecting so that was a nice surprise. I'm telling you, they were beautiful. But don't take my word for it, see for yourself:

There were of course lakes that weren't frozen, and they were equally amazing:

Also, I had chance today to upload some video footage of me and Robyn. You can view them thanks to youtube, here:

Plane taking off
MTV Cribs - Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls tour
Icy Lakes

Feel free to let us know what you think, we certainly do enjoy making fools of ourselves.

Tomorrow we are going to Vermont, and we'll be making a stop at Burlington to visit the Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory. Unfortunately, we are going on the one day of the week when they don't make any ice cream! Doh! But I'm sure there will still be lots of free samples. And cows. MOOOOOOO.

In other news, Robyn had an accident today. No, not THAT kind of accident. She was in the hotel gym, and she paid too much attention to her MP3 player and not enough attention on the treadmill... and fell off. She has the carpet burns to prove it.

So that's all for now. I'm off to bed. We miss everyone back home (well Robyn does anyway) and hope everyone is not too bored without us.

Byeeeeeee!

Greetings from NY state!

Hi everyone, sorry I didn't get chance to post anything yesterday, it was a looooong day and the internet didn't really work in the hotel we were in. I don't actually have time now to write a huge entry cos everyone is in bed and I don't want to wake them with typing.

So highlights, today we went to Niagara, it was the second time for all of us, but it was still amazing, very cold tho. I will post some pics if I can, dunno if it will take ages on this connection but here goes:

We also went to Dennys today, yay! And we went thru immigration to get into the states and had our pictures taken and our fingerprints scanned. That was exciting. Dad didn't know where to go cos we didn't have the forms so we pulled over and 3 government officials with guns came over to the car and asked us what we were doing. I was scared.

Finally, it has been brought to my attention that I made an error in my last entry, and for this I apologise. I assumed all the US dollar notes had presidents on them, but I do realise Ben Franklin was never a president, I just never made the connection in my head. At least I'm not as thick as Robyn, she thought Thomas Eddison invented electricity. I cleared that up and explained to her that Eddison invented the theory of relativity. Joke.

So anyway, I promise to make a huge post either tomorrow or the day after with more pics and stuff. And if I have time, I will upload some video footage me and Robyn took on youtube. But not tonight.

OK, goodnight, talk soon I promise.

PS - Shout out to Tim from Rhode Island, thanks for visiting my blog. Robyn and I are huge coffee drinkers, so we will keep our eyes out for those places. We're hoping to find some nice little New England diners that sell great coffee, like in Gilmore Girls. And if anyone else wants a shout out, leave me a comment!

12 hours to go!

12 hours until the flight that is. We leave for the airport at 7am tomorrow. All our goodbyes have been said, are bags are packed, and all that's left is a good nights sleep. Yeah right. I won't sleep until everything I know I've forgotten has been remembered. And I don't even remember half the things I know I've forgotten. Ooh and my Dad just handed me my US Dollars. My favourite is the one with President Franklin on it. That's $100 for those of you that don't know. It's all about the Benjamins.

I still have a bit to do before tomorrow morning, so I'm gonna leave you now. Next time I speak to you I will be in Toronto. Yay!

Wednesday, April 05, 2006

2 days to go!

Not much to report today, Robyn and I started packing, and if it's possible we're even more giddy than we were yesterday. I've been showing everyone my 1968 Mustang. It is my proudest possession.

Oh we also watched Red Eye tonight. I don't recommend it when you're going to be flying in 2 days time. At least I know the person sitting next to me on the plane isn't evil. Or is she?... Now I'm just scared.

Tomorrow there'll be only one more day to go! Yippee!

Tuesday, April 04, 2006

3 days to go!

OK, so the whole, making an entry every day thing didn't last very long. But I did have a very busy weekend, I was a bridesmaid at my friend's wedding, so I think I can be forgiven.

Um, so let's see, what have me and Robyn been up to? Well tonight we went shopping for things to occupy us on the plane. You know, chocolate, sweets, trashy magazines. Oh and I got a virtual pet and a hot wheels car. It's a pink 1968 Mustang.

Me and Robyn are now getting extremely excited, and annoying everybody who knows us with our inane giddyness. As Tuesday draws to a close, there's almost just 2 days left. *Jumps up and down* Just wait til Thursday night!!!

Talk soon.
